Teresa Mason, Managing Partner at Collins, Mason & Company is pleased to announce that Otto Schmal, formerly a Senior Accountant here at the firm has been promoted to Manager earlier this month. “Otto has consistently shown exceptional technical expertise during his years with us”, said Teresa, “but it is his ability to help his clients take those raw numbers and use them to better understand and manage their businesses that really make a difference here”.

Otto originally joined the firm in 2008 and immediately became an indispensable team member while concurrently working on attaining his CPA certification, which he soon achieved. Infinitely patient and fluent in both English and Spanish, Otto has a remarkable ability to “translate” complex financial problems and sophisticated spreadsheets into a language that anyone can understand and more importantly, use. Because of this talent, he specializes in helping our small business clients measure and monitor the things that matter in growing their businesses. He is a graduate of the Leadership Institute and a member of both the California Society of CPA’s and the American Institute of CPA’s. At the beginning of the year, Otto was thrilled to also take on the role of fatherhood. He is looking forward to this opportunity to continue doing what he loves and grow along with the firm.

As for our clients, they too are pleased, but not at all surprised, to hear of Otto’s new role. Hall Newbegin the founder of Juniper Ridge, an Oakland based client, works very closely with Otto, and had this to say, “We love Otto and think the world of him! He always thinks everything through thoroughly, he’s careful and consistent, incredibly smart about accounting issues, and I trust him completely. Wow, I just feel lucky that we found Collins and Mason and so happy that Otto is our account manager – thanks CMC!!!”

In building their company, the founding partners – Sandra Collins and Teresa Mason – have always made continuing education and personal growth a priority, and they take pride in the knowledgeable and accomplished staff they have assembled. “We are happy that we can give Otto the opportunity to expand upon his outstanding business acumen and talent in client relations, and we are confident that this move is one which will greatly benefit both our clients and our company.”
